The Grumpy Old Man with the Red Peppered Chin

The Legend of Toe Jam Joe

Picture Books in Progress

Toe Jam Joe came about one day when my daughter, who was around 6 years old at the time, asked me about Toe Jam and where it came from. The name "Toe Jam Joe" originated from a saying that my late brother Ronnie would call Mike and Ike candies. He called them Toe Jam Jelly Joes. So working off that phrase, I made up a silly song about this little old man that had jelly between his toes. The song instantly caught on with my kids, and now I am developing it into a picture book.

Have you ever lived with ghost's?

The  Grumpy Old Man with the Red Peppered Chin is a picture book that is based on real paranormal experiences, with the exception of a little twist at the end of the story.

When my wife and I first moved into our house, I started to see and hear strange things. One of those strange  things was the ghost of an old man that would  walk up the staircase at night and look into our room. Then I would see flashes of white in the corner of my eye that looked exactly like our dog. This ghost dog would follow us around the house, and to this day, you can still see  the ghost dog running in the back yard or up the staircase. My kids just saw the dog the other day.  It's a very friendly dog that loves to cuddle with you on the couch or snuggle up into to you at night while you sleep. Yes, at first it was wierd and scary, but now it is a part of the family. There is also a third ghost, though not mentioned in the book, it is the ghost of a little girl. She also wanders the hallways at all hours of the day. But, along with the old man, her sightings have dimished over the years.

In the story of the Grumpy Old Man with the Red Peppered Chin I had a little fun with some of the experiences I had within our house, and expanded them into a fun little story about a young boy and his dog living in a new, but old haunted house.

Pickle Puss

Jasper Jingle is loosly based on the story of how our elf on a shelf came to live in our household.

As you can see from the sketches Jasper is not your typical shelf elf. He resembles a court jester more than a Christmas elf. After being bullied by the other shelf elfs in the store because of his disability of having two right hands, and his odd looks, he is tricked and sent back to the North Pole just before he is adopted by three children who grew fondly attached to him.

Will Jasper ever find happiness and the home of the children that love him?

Better yet, does he have strength and confidence to take this journey alone?

All I can say at this point is that he is not Santa Claus.

He is basically the alternate Santa, hence his name; Atnas Saulk. He lives in the coal mines and delivers coal to the good little girls and boys of the world, and brings the toys to the naughty ones. That is until something happens to him, and he has a change of heart.

If you like the Grinch or Ebenezer Scrooge, then you will be sure to enjoy the story of Atnas Saulk.

Not really much to say here.

I started to work on a character design for a possible client through ELANCE. He was looking for someone to illustrate a story that his Grandfather had created and redesign the main character; Pickle Puss.

Needless to say, I didn't get the comission, but I still loved the character and  had fun with the sketches.

I wonder how the book is coming along?
